  • Dyersburg State Nursing Programs Receive 100% Pass Rate

    December 22, 2020

Dyersburg, Tennessee – A total of 41 nursing graduates from Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC’s) spring 2020 LPN to RN Fast Track Nursing Program, and fall 2020 Paramedic to RN Nursing Program received a 100% pass rate on their first attempt of the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN) exam. In addition, the spring 2020 traditional nursing class, consisting of 26 graduates, completed with a 97% pass rate on their first attempt.

“This achievement is amazing given the fact that most of these students continue to work full time while tackling a very challenging curriculum!” exclaimed Dr. Karen Bowyer, president of DSCC.

“We are beyond proud of these students for passing the NCLEX on the first attempt – especially during a pandemic,” stated Amy Johnson, dean of nursing. “Although they were faced with many obstacles, they persevered and demonstrated the commitment and flexibility needed to reach their goals.”

Dr. Jan Reid-Bunch, vice president for the college, shared in the enthusiasm of the news, attributing the success of the nursing program to the resilience and hard work of the nursing students, faculty, and staff.

“It is truly remarkable to have a first-time pass rate for one of our most demanding programs during such a challenging time,” stated Dr. Reid-Bunch. “Our students worked under extraordinary conditions, including remote learning and altered classroom accommodations to make sure everyone was safe. The faculty and staff made sure they had what they needed to succeed and these students never gave up. We are extremely proud of their determination and success.”

Application deadlines for upcoming programs include Dec. 31, 2020 for the LPN to RN Fast Track Nursing Program (Dyersburg campus); March 1, 2021 for the Traditional Nursing Program (Dyersburg campus); and March 1, 2021 for the Paramedic to RN Nursing Program (Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County, Covington).
